Rob Cardillo has been photographing gardens, plants, and the people who tend them for more than 20 years. Formerly the director of photography at Organic Gardening, he now works for major publishers, horticultural suppliers, and landscape designers throughout the United States.

Rob has been translating the beauty of the natural world through a lens for over four decades. A native of Pittsburgh, Cardillo has spent most of his life in the Philadelphia region where his love of plants, gardens and the people that tend them has become a limitless source of inspiration.

Rob’s work is also seen in The New York Times, Country Gardens, Garden Design, and Horticulture where he has been the featured cover artist for over three years. Along with his Blue Root Media partners, Cardillo has been providing the content for a new award-winning regional gardening magazine, GROW, published by the venerable Pennsylvania Horticultural Society. In 2015, Rob was inducted into the Garden Writer’s Association Hall of Fame.

He is one of the best-known horticultural photographers in the country.  The books for which he is the photographer include Chanticleer: A Pleasure Garden (2011), The Layered Garden: Design Lessons for Year-Round Beauty from Brandywine Cottage (2012), The Perennial Care Manual: A Plant-by-Plant Guide: What to Do & When to Do It (2009), Private Gardens of South Florida (2016), and many others.  He also shoots for gardening publications from Garden Design to Mother Earth News, and has been seen in The New York Times, Better Homes and Gardens, Country Gardens, Horticulture, and GROW, published by the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society. In 2015, Rob was inducted into the Garden Writer’s Association Hall of Fame.
